Sidewalk Motor Challenge

Okay OT friends.....time to get creative AND outside!

All you need is chalk. Come up with a series of fun motor challenges to test your coordination, balance and endurance! If you don't have chalk, make paper signs for each station challenge!

This was ours...

1. Old-school Hopscotch

2. Heel-Toe Walking along the curving, loopy line.

3. Jump the Hurdles - do a 2-footed jump over each yellow line.

4. Flamingo Stands - stand on one foot for 10 seconds....then on the other foot for 10 seconds. Hold a nice, strong flamingo stance!

5. Spell your name with one jumping jack per letter. For an extra challenge, add your middle name. 😉

6. Flat Rock Wall climb - "walking" on your hands and feet, stay on the rock holds.

7. Backwards Walk Along the Balance Beam

8. Standing Long Jump - Just like Olympians... feet together and a large jump forward. How many inches can you go?

9. Balance Logs - take side steps down these logs.  Make sure you keep your balance and side-step pattern when you go to the next log.

10. Frog Jumps - Squat down low then spring your legs up to jump HIGH!

11. Tip Toes on the Stars - get right up on your toes!

Here's our sidewalk motor challenge all together!

I can't wait to see what your creative minds come up with!  Maybe we will even see a few trick shots! Send me a video or picture through Google Classroom or CLICK HERE to email Ms. Relyea.

  1. My fun motor challenge is my karate class that my sensei does by zoom meeting 2 times a week and I have been swimming in my pool every day so far this week! I don't have sidewalk chalk but I am staying active. Nick Hudson

    1. That is AWESOME to hear, Nick! I love that your karate sensei has transitioned your classes to Zoom. You are so lucky to have a pool, especially this week! Keep up the great effort, Nick!

  3. I am doing the assignment with some chalk for hopscotch, balance on the log (side step) and then using a hula hoop to throw a ball thru from different distances.
